My First Impressions when entering the hotel
The Hotel Marqués de Riscal, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is located in the charming village of Elciego in the Rioja wine region of northern Spain. The hotel is known for its stunning architecture designed by Frank Gehry, the renowned architect behind the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
The hotel features 43 luxurious rooms and suites, each uniquely designed with modern amenities and spectacular views of the surrounding vineyards. The rooms feature king-sized beds, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, minibars, and plush bathrobes and slippers.
My room
I used my Marriott suite night to upgrade my room to the Riscal Suite, which is elegantly designed with modern furnishings and luxurious touches, such as a unique Frank Gehry-designed headboard and a large terrace with panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and the village of Elciego. The terrace is furnished with comfortable seating, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a glass of Rioja wine.
Pros and Cons
While the surrounding area is known for its wine production and the hotel offers wine tours and tastings at the Marqués de Riscal winery, it should be noted that this hotel is relatively expensive compared to other hotels in the area, and there are limited dining options within walking distance of the property.
Conclusion
I would love to stay in this hotel again when I am in Spain next time.
