My First Impressions when entering the hotel
The check-in process went smoothly. The loyalty manager was expecting us as we walked in. While her colleague checked us in, she brought us a gift (macarons) and had someone bring our luggage to the room. She also upgraded us to a bigger corner room.
I generally have good experiences staying at hotels in the Marriott group, but this time at the Marriott Hotel in Ocean Park, Hong Kong, I stayed in a room type with a very problematic design - Club Wing, oversized tub, one king, corner room - that made me never want to stay there again.

My room
Pros and Cons
The shortcomings of this room type are:
1. Lack of privacy in the bathroom: As soon as you enter the room, the transparent glass shower stall is on your right-hand side, with no cover whatsoever. If someone were to suddenly enter while you were taking a shower, you would be completely exposed. The angle of the handheld showerhead cannot be adjusted, so you have to use the overhead shower, but fortunately, the water pressure is strong enough; otherwise, the shower experience would be less than ideal.
2. Light-blocking issues: The room has two small windows with blinds. At night, the light from outside street lights interferes with your sleep, and during the day, the sunlight wakes you up. For people who are sensitive to light, this affects their sleep quality greatly.
I don't know what the designer of this Club Wing was thinking. It is a very disappointing design. The only redeeming feature is the hidden storage space behind the TV, where the safe is also located. It can accommodate large suitcases and carry-on luggage, making the room less cramped.
3. Limited workspace area: If you need to use a computer, you can only sit at a small round table in one corner of the sofa.
Apart from the shortcomings in the room design, the other facilities and location of the hotel are still good. The fitness room has all the basic equipment, and the hotel is located right next to the subway station, just one stop from Admiralty.
Conclusion
After I reported the problems to the hotel, I was given a room with better light-blocking capabilities and a slightly larger workspace area. However, the lack of privacy in the shower cannot be solved as this is a design problem throughout the entire Club Wing. The other two buildings reportedly have added curtains to their shower stalls.
